New Oaks Farm
3545 Morton-Pulliam Rd Roxboro, NC 919.627.1121 |
New Oaks Farm is an innovative family produce farm growing from a traditional family tobacco farm. The farm is a blend of mature hardwood trees, smallish sandy loam soil fields and spring-fed creeks and streams. All in, its an ideal place to grow diverse produce crops and strong, independent children. Reggie Oakley, our founder, grew up working the same land that the farms occupies today and "the big white farm-house in the curve" where Pappa and Granny Oakley still reside will always be "home" though Reggie, his wife, Amy, and their three awesome children love being full-time Durham residents.
In addition to being a farm boy from birth, Reggie has worked in various finance leadership positions within large global organizations and he's been a part-time foodie since he tasted his first salata caprese while living in Frankfurt, Germany. Passion for the farm, good food and technology led him to found New Oaks.
We believe that old ways (like crop rotation, crop diversity, composting, and livestock rotations), combined with the best modern practices (limited tillage, season extension practices, drip irrigation and web-enabled direct-to-consumer marketing) provide the key to a practical, sustainable regional food system that can deliver freshness, convenience and quality that large farms can't match, whether they are in California, Mexico, Central America or Eastern NC.
You can find us at the Person County Farmers Market every Wednesday (3 pm - 6 pm) and Saturday (8 am - 12 pm). We will apply to the Durham Farmers Market during its annual enrollment in January 2012. You can also find us in your drive-way or parking lot if you become a member of our no-commitment Durham-centric delivery service!
Amy and I realize the incredible generosity that is the center of the sacrifice our Lord made for all people and we actively seek to be generous to those in need. If you would like to discuss other ways the farm might be able to give to those in need, send us an by email.
